An inquest has heard Love Island star Kem Cetinay could have done “nothing” to prevent the death of a man in a horror crash. Love Island winner Kem was reassured by a judge after a fatal crash which saw a new dad lose his life.
Kem, 27, was told there was “absolutely nothing” he could have done following the tragedy, which took place near his home in Romford, Essex on August 4 last year. Tommy Griggs died after his motorbike collided with Kem’s car.
Mr Griggs was doing 44mph in a 30mph zone with fake number plates, an inquest heard. He had no insurance or licence and smashed into Mr Cetinay at 11.27am.

Senior Coroner Graeme Irvine said Mr Griggs was riding a motorbike that had been fitted with an engine over three times the standard, and 20 times over the legal limit for active cannabis ingredient THC. “He came round the bend, he believed he was travelling at the legal speed limit,” the coroner explained.
“He said as soon as he came round the bend he saw the motorcycle approaching in his lane. The whole incident happened very, very quickly. He pulled on the steering wheel but he couldn’t give a clear recollection about whether he had any time to brake. He waited at the scene until emergency services arrived.”
His dad read out a statement to the courtroom which said: “Our Tommy was larger than life and he had the most amazing character, he was our lovable rogue. He made so many friends from all walks of life – if you were good to him he would treat you the same.”
The coroner concluded: “At that speed on the wrong side of the road he (Griggs) would have not been able to come out of that collision. Mr Cetinay, following the collision, did everything right. He stayed at the scene.”
